The Chios Association UK is proudly hosting its 3rd annual Chios Association charity, dinner-dance gala taking place on Saturday 3 October 2009 at the Holy Cross & St Michael's Church Banqueting Hall in Golders Green, Golders Green Road, London NW11. The night promises to be our biggest and most successful fundraiser ever, showcasing the island of Chios, promoting the necessary rehabilitation of its forgotten and beloved northern villages whilst enjoying sumptuous food and lively dancing till 12pm. Tickets are charged at £30 each and all proceeds go towards our cause. Invitation and further details to follow. Any donations can be made via paypal using email anna.dontas@gmail.com, cheques made payable to The Chios Association UK or via facebook on http://apps.facebook.com/sponsor-me/campaign/the-chios-association-uk.

The Chios Association UK prides itself as a philanthropic organisation and does not exclude the participation of other cultures of non-Greek heritage. Our ethos is simple. Our primary goal is to support our island's well needed development but, just as importantly, is the unified gathering of peoples (family, friends and newcomers) once a year to break bread, converse about important political issues, dance, have fun and to network with Greeks and other International folk from around the globe seeking a greater humanitarian and balanced world for our children and future generations. Your support these last two years has seen us raise well over £8,000 for our cause. A large portion of this money was donated in 2007 by the Association to help the rebuild the homes destroyed by the fires which devastated Greece that year.

Performing at this year’s event will be the very famous Giannis Polukantriotis, whose highly acclaimed orchestra is one not to be missed. Guest speakers from the Hellenic community are to still to be confirmed, but in the past have seen Dimitris Diolasis, Proksenos of Greece to England and Mrs. Maria Papalouka, Director of Primary Education CEM, take time out of their busy schedule to support us and our message.

I urge you all for your continued support, be it a simple email, post on facebook, attending our events, volunteering, advertising in our new, annual magazine or simply any monitary/prize donations (of which all, however small, are welcome). My thanks and gratitude go out to the eminent Stelios Haji-Ioannou at Easyjet, the Olympic Airways team, the Cyprus Airways team, the Aegean Airlines team, the Chandris Hotels Group, the Golden Sun Hotel Group, Mastic Spa, the Eleutheria newspaper, the Parikiaki newspaper, London Greek Radio, the Haven restaurant in Finchley London and the wonderful Lemonia restaurant in Primrose Hill for their ever relied upon efforts every year in donating prizes for our events, promotion, marketing and sponsorship.

We look forward to seeing you there and hope you can support us in any which way you can. With thanks, gratitude and love
